About Dawnie

Dawnie Browne: Integrative Therapist, Mentor, Spiritual Teacher

Everything I share with you, I have integrated and use to support my own freedom.

My approach is a response to my own transformation and return to love, over the last 35 years and the insight and expertise this has given me. Key to this, is understanding the importance of self-forgiveness in living with unconditional love and developing inner peace and stability with which to meet our relationships and our changing world.

By relying on the true nature of the heart and mind, this practical approach is for anyone who wants to grow beyond the illusion of our social conditioning to the truth of love, unity and infinity possibility that lie beyond, choosing love over fear. So instead of living through the illusion that we are separate from our innate perfection and innocence, we can connect to our shared humanity and potential and create a more loving world. This is my vision and I am honoured to share this path with you.

Below, I have shared my story so you can get to know me and how working together will you lead a life in alignment with your own heart.

Training and Research

My insight into human potential and the mind-body-spirit-nature connection is the result of 35 years of research, lived experience and the following study:

  • Training as a therapist to Masters degree level in Integrative Humanistic Counselling & as a teacher of adults & young people

  • 26 years of coaching & mentoring experience

  • 18 years researching the role of breathing in assisting recovery & optimising well being & quality of life (this led to the creation of Breath Perception)

  • Studying for 2 years in Thailand, meditation practices recognised by the National Institute for Health & Care Excellence (N.I.C.E) as effective in the treatment of difficulties associated with stress & anxiety

  • Studying neuroscience, physiology, trauma theory & infant attachment theory

  • 1 year studying anatomy, physiology & pathology

  • 30+ years exploring yoga, meditation & practical spirituality

  • 3 years serving as a Reiki Apprentice in Thailand in preparation to become a teacher

Early Life

My early life was defined by an affinity for ponies and the natural world. This taught me about stillness, resonance and being connected to who we really are, our souls.

At age 12, I nearly died and was told I’d end up in a wheelchair. I knew from then on that we’re here to love each other and that health is life and a gift to be preserved. Unable to do weight bearing exercise, I became a swimmer and began researching the breath and how to preserve my health.

In the decade that followed I underwent several operations that restored my mobility and a number of transformative experiences that showed me a reality beyond duality and a love that unites us all. During this period I became a student of yoga and meditation.

Education

For my undergraduate degree I studied Human Communication and specialised in supporting neurodivergent children and mentoring young people. I wrote my thesis on 'The Social Experience of Living with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder’ and developed insights that are now part of our collective conscious. This began my career as a mentor and coach, alongside which I then trained as a teacher.

Studying in Thailand

In time, my un-processed trauma began to surface. I didn’t know who could help me so I travelled to Thailand to learn how to help myself. I dedicated the next 2 years to studying yoga, massage and meditation (mindfulness) practices endorsed by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (N.I.C.E) in the treatment of difficulties associated with stress and anxiety.

My intuition told me to develop a methodology for assisting recovery and optimising wellbeing and quality of life, using the breath, so I returned to the UK to train as a Counsellor/Therapist and continue my research.

The Creation of Breath Perception

I undertook a year of training in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology and recognised the importance of the autonomic nervous system in regulating breathing and every aspect of our wellbeing. Alongside this, I worked in a college as a Wellbeing Coach, where I shared practical tools so the teachers and young people could look after their own minds.

During my Masters Degree Therapy training I re-visited my under graduate passion for Infant Attachment Theory and discovered new passions in Neurobiology and Trauma Theory. For my thesis I researched ‘Breath Perception as a Self-Care Tool for Counsellors’, the results revealing an unequivocal need to establish Breath Perception as an official method.

In 2011 I founded Breath Perception and my wellbeing Consultancy, Breathe 4 Wellbeing. Breath Perception soared, helping young athletes facing potential disqualification go to number 1 in Great Britain and people facing end of life, experience peace of mind.

The ripple effect was phenomenal.

Finding Freedom

In 2021, in response to Covid-19 lockdown and my daily application of the lessons in A Course In Miracles, I found freedom and saw the true nature of the mind.

I discovered that the key to freedom is self-forgiveness. If we can’t recognise our innate innocence and release the past, we will never forgive each other, connect to our potential or transform our world.

I am called to share the scientific principles and practices that can set anyone free, by understanding the mind and how to choose love over fear.

So instead of living through the illusion that we are separate from our innate innocence and potential, we can experience the shared heart-mind of humanity, practice self-forgiveness and create a more loving world.

This is my vision and I am honoured to walk this path with you.
